With every new year comes a brand new social media fad, and this time it’s the 10 year challenge taking over your feed.
But if you think you’ve got a good one ready to go in your camera roll, you much just want to concede defeat to Freddo.
The infamous Cadbury’s chocolate bar has changed a lot in the last decade, from packaging to size, and most notably – in price.
Now thanks to Facebook, the bar has completed its 10 year challenge, with a photoshopped 2019 version sporting a hefty £87 sticker.
The meme has already generated thousands of shares, with one person writing: ‘Freddo Fridays are becoming way too expensive.’
Another person commented: ‘Sad thing is i am sure they started at off at 10p!’
While a third joked: ‘Sooo I don’t know if u can see but Freddos nose has gotten smaller my theory is he’s been charging more for a nose job.’
Freddo bars in the 1970s were short-lived and were later relaunched in 1994 with a price tag of 10p, which rose to 13p in 2009.
In today’s shops, the 35g chocolate bars usually retail at around 26p, although some customers have found them going for 99p in certain stores.
But Freddo isn’t the only one getting involved in the 10 year challenge.
Mariah Carey delighted fans today with her own twist on the trend by sharing two identical and recent photos of herself smiling in a floral kimono.
She captioned the image: ‘I don’t get this 10 year challenge, time is not something I acknowledge. *Picture taken at some point prior to today.’
Amy Schumer chose to share a photo of Charlize Theron portraying American serial killer Aileen Carol Wuornos in the movie Monster as her first image, comparing it with herself in pregnancy spanx in 2019.
While This Morning’s Rylan Clark-Neal roped Chelsea footballer Olivier Giroud into his own transformation.
Alongside the two snaps – one of which was most definitely not him – the 30-year-old wrote: ‘Here we go…. #10YearChallenge #10YearsAgoChallenge.’
Others on Twitter joined in with two images of their empty wallets or meals for one side by side.
